It’s a bittersweet moment in the history of RentSmart: we would like to say farewell to our Co-executive Directors, Kristi Fairholm Mader and Kristi Rivait, and thank them for their dedicated leadership and invaluable impact on the organization and the communities we serve. At the same time, we want to warmly welcome Linda Amy as the new Executive Director who will certainly open up new and exciting horizons in the work that we do.
Kristi Fairholm Mader and Kristi Rivait: Wow – time flies! It seems only yesterday that we came into Ready to Rent BC in Fall 2014. When we arrived, Ready to Rent BC was operating an impactful program within Victoria, and receiving interest and demand from other communities on Vancouver Island and across BC. Our task was to share the program to any community that requested it. 4.5 years later, we are taking a deep breath and reflecting on the whirlwind that took place:
- New and updated materials
- New branding
- New program model
- New impact measurement
- New partnerships across BC, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario
- Additional staff and capacity
- New space
- New systems
- New educational offerings: RentSmart Online, RentSmart Basics, RentSmart Landlord, RentSmart Educator, Prevention Toolkit, Roommate Guide and so on
We are so excited to hand the leadership over to Linda Amy, and to take the lessons learned from Ready to Rent to other organizations looking to scale their impact.
Thank you to Ready to Rent’s board, staff and partners for this incredible opportunity to be a part of increasing housing stability and preventing homelessness.
Linda Amy: I am truly honored and excited to join Ready to Rent in the role of Executive Director. I bring with me an extensive background in the high impact non-profit sector and entrepreneurial expertise that will enable Ready to Rent to continue to build upon its great legacy. I embrace a vision in which our exceptional staff, community partners and board members strive together to build equitable, diverse, engaged and flourishing communities. We aim to build our capacity and work with our local and national partners to meet the needs for tenant and landlord education, and advocate for affordable and accessible housing.
I look forward to working alongside you and making a difference in the lives of those we serve.
